I came into this world the first time on
October 05, 1968
in
Telgte,
in the
Münsterland,
a small region in north western Germany.
I grew up the first nearly four years at
Ostbevern,
near Telgte. To minimize my fathers daily travel
to his employer at
Halle/Westfalen,
we moved to
Hesselteich
in
June 1972
I attended primary school at
Oesterweg
from
September 1975
until
August 1979
and then entered the
Gymnasium
in
September 1979
in
Versmold,
located near the towns of
Bielefeld,
Osnabrück
and
Münster
In
July 1988
I started a 15-month vacation, courtesy of the
FRG.
I spend most of this time in
Rendsburg
and
Lütjenburg,
both in the north of Germany.
After such a long and relaxing vacation I
was looking forward to my study of physics,
which I began in
October 1989
at
University
of
Paderborn.
After two years I moved to
Heidelberg's
University
mainly to do research in astronomy. In
September 1993
I started my diploma thesis in the
GALLEX
Collaboration at the
Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik
in Heidelberg. I completed my thesis and
received my diploma (Master's degree) in
September 1994
After 2 month of looking around I started my
PhD thesis
in
December 1994
about the development of galaxies especially
the faint blue ones. This thesis had been done in
the context of
CADIS,
an large extragalactic survey at the
Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie
in Heidelberg. Also I have been initially
involved in improving the observational
facilities at MPIA's
70cm telescope
on top of the Königstuhl in Heidelberg.
Starting in industry took place on
March 1999
near mainstation in
Darmstadt,
where I am also currently located at.
During my leisure time I am involved in the
organization of the
Chorus Vocalissimo Heidelberg,
further trying to get the
Fockenbrocks Homepage
up to date and never the less cultivating our
garden.
